Our sample

A ball is dropped from 20 m. Ignore air resistance, and take g = 10 m/s². How fast is it moving as it lands?

Tap an answer to see the explanation.

Show the answer

The answer is C: 20 m/s.

  • A) Wrong. 10 m/s is the speed after a drop of only 5 m: v² = 2 × 10 × 5 = 100.
  • B) Wrong. This is the common mistake: it forgets the 2 in v² = 2gh. √(10 × 20) is about 14.
  • C) Right. Potential energy becomes kinetic energy: mgh = ½mv². The mass cancels, so v² = 2gh = 2 × 10 × 20 = 400, and v = 20 m/s.
  • D) Wrong. 40 m/s is twice the right answer. v² = 400, so v = √400 = 20.

The question everyone asks

General Science, not a physics paper

There is no separate Physics test. The third part of the test is General Science. The faculty's official mock shows what it asks.

After the written test

The online interviews (MMI)

If you pass, you have multiple mini-interviews (MMI): several short interviews, online, usually within a week. The faculty's preparation page does not say how they are scored. Our practice does not cover them. Our tips:

  • Test your camera and connection
  • Explain a chart out loud
  • Talk through a difficult situation
  • Say why you want medicine

Charles First Faculty

Your Charles questions, answered

Which Charles faculty does this cover?

Only the First Faculty of Medicine, in Prague, and its English General Medicine. Charles University has other medical faculties, and each sets its own exam. So check you are revising for the right one.

How do I apply to the First Faculty, step by step?

You apply yourself: we are not an agent or a representative, and we do not apply for you.

  1. Apply online in the university's application system.
  2. Choose an exam date and place on the faculty's dates page. Official agencies run the dates abroad.
  3. Study the official lists: the biology and chemistry topic lists and the mocks, on the preparation page.
  4. Sit the written test. If you pass, the online interviews follow.

Is there a physics paper?

There is no separate Physics test. General Science has some basic physics: see what the official mock asks.

Is there a pass mark?

Not on the faculty pages we checked. The faculty's preparation page does not say how the written test and the interviews are weighed either. Check the faculty's admission page, or ask your representative.

When are the 2027 exams?

Not published yet. Last year (2026): Written tests ran from 30 May to 4 September, in Hong Kong, Istanbul, Toronto, Prague, London, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Athens and Palma de Mallorca. The faculty itself ran the Prague test on 8 June. Agencies ran the others. The faculty said dates may change, so confirm with your representative. Check the dates page for 2027.

Are there past papers?

The official mock is a full 75-question paper: 25 chemistry, then 25 biology, then 25 General Science. Each question has four options, A to D. The General Science part asks about units and conversions, measuring, charts and percentages, averages and spread, straight-line graphs, growth and decay, and basic physics such as motion, energy, buoyancy, circuits and waves. Find it on the preparation page. We do not have past papers, and we do not sell them. Our practice uses only questions we write.

Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?

The faculty's preparation page sets no minimum English score. The exam is all in English.

What does it cost?
