Our sample

A ball is dropped from 20 m. Ignore air resistance, and take g = 10 m/s². How fast is it moving as it lands?

Tap an answer to see the explanation.

Show the answer

The answer is C: 20 m/s.

  • A) Wrong. 10 m/s is the speed after a drop of only 5 m: v² = 2 × 10 × 5 = 100.
  • B) Wrong. This is the common mistake: it forgets the 2 in v² = 2gh. √(10 × 20) is about 14.
  • C) Right. Potential energy becomes kinetic energy: mgh = ½mv². The mass cancels, so v² = 2gh = 2 × 10 × 20 = 400, and v = 20 m/s.
  • D) Wrong. 40 m/s is twice the right answer. v² = 400, so v = √400 = 20.
  • E) Wrong. 200 m/s skips the square root. 200 is gh, not v.

Masaryk

Your Masaryk questions, answered

Who is the official representative for my country?

The faculty lists its official representatives by country in its admission document. We are not one of them, and we are not linked to any. Ask yours about 2027 dates, the place and any charges.

How do I apply to Masaryk, step by step?

You apply through an official representative. We are not one, and we are not an agent: we do not apply for you.

  1. Find your official representative. You apply only through one. The faculty's admission document lists them by country.
  2. Apply online, and pick your exam date. Not from the EU? Ask for an early date: a visa takes time. We cannot advise on visas.
  3. Ask your representative where you sit, what to bring, and whether your country has an interview.
  4. Sit the tests. Then see the decision in your online application.
  5. Enrol. The steps, the visa and the costs are in the facts on this page.

Can I skip the exam?

You may sit the exam only once per admission year. For General Medicine only, some results replace the exam. Dentistry applicants always sit it. The faculty links some routes to where you come from: MCAT or DAT for applicants from the USA and Canada, PACES or MMOP for applicants from France, the Abitur for applicants from Germany, and the Swiss certificate for Switzerland. The routes: MCAT (at least 24 or 500, by test year; US applicants must send it), DAT (at least 20), French PACES or MMOP, A-levels (A in Chemistry, A in Biology, B in Physics), IB (35 points, with 19 from HL Biology, HL Chemistry and HL or SL Physics), German Abitur 1.70 or better, Swiss certificate 5.50 or better. For A-levels, the faculty says "from the academic year 2024/2025 at the latest". This is unclear, so ask your representative. The IB must be taken in 2024/2025 or later. For the Abitur and Swiss routes, you must not have left school before 2023/2024. Attach your last school year's transcript or your final diploma to the online application. Before you enrol, Czechia must recognise your school education. This costs CZK 990, paid online.

What score do I need?

The pass mark is 60% for General Medicine and 65% for Dentistry. Passing is the minimum. Higher scores get places first. If a higher scorer says no, the place goes to the next person who passed. The faculty's document does not say if the pass mark counts per test or over all the tests. So aim for it in every test.

I dropped physics. Can I still pass?

You can still apply, but physics is one of the tests: Three separate tests: Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Start like this:

  1. Read the faculty's physics topic list. Mark each topic you never studied.
  2. Time yourself on the physics sample test.
  3. Learn your marked topics, starting with the ones the sample asked.
  4. Do the sample again with a timer.

What if I fail?

You may sit the exam only once per admission year. So pick your date with care, and practise with a timer first.

When are the 2027 exams?

Not published yet. Last year (2026): The online application was open from 2 January to 31 July 2026. It closed about two weeks before each exam. Non-EU applicants sat exams from January to April, and in some cases May, because a visa takes time. June and July exams were for EU applicants only. Ask your representative for the 2027 dates.

My exam is online. How is it monitored?

The faculty's document does not say. Your official representative runs the exam, so ask it about the place, the format and any tech check.

What does it cost?

  • To apply: The faculty's document gives no application fee. You apply through an official representative, who may charge you, so ask. Recognition of your school education costs CZK 990, paid online before you enrol. If you pay tuition and then do not enrol, the faculty keeps CZK 25,000.
  • Tuition: General Medicine: CZK 380,000 a year. Dentistry: CZK 400,000 a year.
  • Living in Brno: A dormitory bed costs about EUR 200 a month, in a room for 2 people. Three canteen meals cost about EUR 8 a day. A 3-month transport ticket costs EUR 26. Foreign students pay all their own costs. An accommodation scholarship may be available.

Is the degree recognised in my country?

The faculty says its degrees are fully recognised in the EU, the USA and most other countries. It says this follows EU Directive 2005/36/EC. It also says it is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. To work as a doctor, you register in the country where you want to work. Check with the authorities there. Check with the medical council in your own country too.

I studied at another university. Can I skip year 1?

Earlier study at another university does not let you skip year 1. You still sit the exam.
