- Masaryk: you apply through the official representative for your country. It may charge you, so ask.
These are the fees for the English programmes. Masaryk's and Charles's are for 2027/28 entry. Palacký's are from its General Medicine page, checked in October 2026.
Masaryk University: CZK 380,000 a year
From the Faculty of Medicine's admission information for 2027/28:[1]
- Tuition: CZK 380,000 a year for General Medicine. Dentistry is CZK 400,000.
- To apply: the faculty gives no application fee. You apply only through the official representative for your country. It may charge you, so ask.
- Before you enrol: the Czech Republic must recognise your school education. This costs CZK 990, paid online.
- If you change your mind: if you pay tuition and then do not enrol, the faculty keeps CZK 25,000.
Over six years. General Medicine at Masaryk is a six-year programme. Six years at CZK 380,000 come to CZK 2,280,000 in tuition (our calculation). That assumes the fee stays the same each year.
Masaryk charges in Czech crowns. So its fee in euros moves with the exchange rate. Check the rate when you pay.
Living in Brno. The faculty gives these figures:[1]
- a dormitory bed: about EUR 200 a month, in a room for 2
- three canteen meals: about EUR 8 a day
- a 3-month transport ticket: EUR 26
A bed and three meals a day come to about EUR 440 in a 30-day month (our calculation). Foreign students pay all their own costs, books included. Non-EU students also need health insurance from a Czech insurer. An accommodation scholarship may be available.
Optional: the faculty's own course. Masaryk sells online prep courses at EUR 100 per subject. They are on sale from 1 November 2026 to 25 July 2027.[2]
Charles University First Faculty: EUR 24,250 a year
Searching for "Charles University medicine fees"? Charles has more than one medical faculty, and each sets its own exam. The figures here are for the First Faculty of Medicine, in Prague. Check any other faculty on its own pages.
From the university's admission criteria for 2027/28:[3]
- Tuition: EUR 24,250 a year, for General Medicine and for Dentistry.
- To apply: EUR 285, paid by card or bank transfer. Your application counts only once it is paid.
- If the faculty assesses your foreign education: you pay a fee for the assessment. The criteria give no amount. You also send legalised documents by 31 August 2027.
For 2026/27, the faculty said you could not sit the exam until the fee was paid.[4] So pay early.
Applying and the first year of tuition come to EUR 24,535 (our calculation). Living costs come on top.
Palacký University Olomouc: EUR 12,500 a year
From the faculty's General Medicine and admissions pages, checked in October 2026:[5][6]
- Tuition: EUR 12,500 a year for General Medicine. Dentistry is EUR 14,000.
- To apply: EUR 80 per application, paid online. You do not get it back. There is no further exam fee.
Applying and the first year of tuition come to EUR 12,580 (our calculation). Living costs come on top.
Working out the full cost
- Take the yearly tuition from the table.
- Multiply it by the years in the programme. At Masaryk, General Medicine takes six years. For Charles and Palacký, check the length on the faculty's pages.
- Add the cost to apply, and any recognition or assessment fee.
- Add your living costs for each year.
This guide gives living costs for Brno only, from Masaryk's admission information. For Prague and Olomouc, ask the faculty.
Can you study medicine in the Czech Republic for free?
Not at these three schools in English. Each English programme charges tuition. The Czech-taught programmes have their own exams, in Czech. This guide does not cover them.
Before you pay anything
- Masaryk: ask your representative what it charges, before you sign up.
- Charles: pay the EUR 285 before the deadline, or your application does not count.
- Palacký: the EUR 80 is not refunded, so check your exam date first.

Practice for the exams, when it opens
When practice opens, All-School Prep will cover all three schools, each in its own format. It will not cover the interviews, the Palacký maths option or the Palacký English test. See when practice opens.
